Avan At Queenscliff Music Festival

Last weekend Hubby and I headed to the Queenscliff Music Festival.  The weather was shocking, winds, rain and howling weather.  The Avan stood up to all the elements and was a great little retreat from the festival, put our feet up, have a snooze and get ready for the next day of events.

TIP: Storing Your Avan

As much as we would love to be out and about in the Avan touring around, there are times that we need to store the Avan.  A quick tip is to make sure the refrigerator is left slightly ajar to minimise the amount of mould build up when not in use.  Just turn the clasp inward so there is room for air to circulate.  If your fridge also comes with a freezer take an icecube tray and place it against the freezer door allowing air to circulate.

Before storage wipe the refrigerator out with a dry cloth sprayed with some disinfectant.  This helps to reduce the amount of mould that can form in the fridge when not in use.

Avan at Melbourne Leisurefest

I believe the Avan  caravan display will be at the Melbourne Leisurefest being held at Sandown Racecourse 30th September to 3rd October.  I am looking forward to seeing the new Avan's available for 2010.  Further inforamtion for the Melbourne Leisurefest can be found through this link.  

Hubby and I attended last year and found some great information for camping and caravanning in general.  It is a great show and if in Melbourne well worth a vist.

Avan - Shop Around

We did a lot of investigating before purchasing an Avan.  Although we loved the idea of being able to pick our own floorplan the price of a new Avan was out of our financial reach at this particular point in time.  We were trading in our VW Campervan that had run it's course for our touring style.

There aren't a lot of second hand Avan's available for sale.  I think because once you purchase one you are so happy with it that you don't really want to part with it.  We looked in all the usual places on the internet and in the Caravan for sale magazines.  We were fortunate enough to stubble across one in our travels that suited exactly what we were looking for. 

True, you can't pick your layout.  If you are not too fussy and happy to compromise then looking out for a secondhand Avan maybe the way to go.

Avan Tip - Bedding

Take along two sets of sheets with you.  On your last morning change your sheets and bedding.  Next time you are ready to set off on the road your bed is already to go.  Your dirty sheets can be washed and put back in your van ready to change them over on your next trip.

When travelling it is always great if your bed is already made up if you pull up late at night.  A nice cuppa and a good rest prepares you for the next day.

Quick Avan Tip

Use a small tray or basket to keep your tea, coffee and sugar in.  It is easy to bring out the basket or tray then bending over and bringing out each individual item.  Baskets or tray's are available from $2 shops or Woolworths in packs of 2 for aournd $4.

If you own an Avan then you know how special the van is.  Just recently Hubby and I purchased our Avan.  We previously had a campervan and upgraded to the Avan. 

An Avan is unusual amongst the caravan world.  They really create conversation at caravan parks.
